i just bought an xbox 360 with 2 wireless controllers,
    20gb hdd, & 4 games.
ive since read a lot of forums/pages describing the process of
flashing the biosto be able to backup your games & play the backups on the console, but dont understand a lot of them as they always contradict each other.
can anyone give me any help/advice or suggestions please?
i would really appreciate it, thanks..
P.S i know it goes by the model of the drive & that you need to connect the drive from the console to your motherboard in the pc, but i havent opened the case of my xbox yet as im unsure of what tools ill need for the job..
would a screwdriver & allen keys do or do i need certain tools?
i also downloaded 2 flashing programs from this site:-
    http://www.xbox-modchips.com/tutorials.html ...
the programs i got from here were Xtreme42 &
    Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_2_Stealth
    cheers

Xtreme 4.2 is for Samsung drives. Opa 2.3 Stealth is for Hitachi drives. Before we can help you at all you need to tell us which drive you have. So go ahead and bust the 360 open and tell us exactly which version drive you have.

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help. I have an xbox with a Hitachi drive (not 100% sure which version it is yet) and am interested in flashing it to play backup games etc. I understand the general way to do this as i have read up a little on it. However, is it very risky?? Is the process irreversible?? any help from people who have successfully done this with a hitachi drive and what guide they used would be very helpful. thanks

Easiest method to flash a hitachi drive
Get a PCI SATA card with a SIL3112 chipset
Download SLAX and burn to CD
Get opa 2.3 revision 2 firmware

Slax will get the hitachi in modeB
when in modeB and you get a drive letter for your hitachi in windows
    go to cmd.exe
type flash23s.bat "drive letter of hitachi" 5555
    example
    flash23s.bat G 5555
Everything is able to be reversed by running restore.bat

    Here's a turotial

Thanks for the reply. Ive heard of a couple of tricks which pple use to get their backup discs to work. one of which includes resetting the xbox and then quickly turning it back on with the X in the middle of the controller so that the disc is read properly. Am i right in thinking you still have to have the Drive Flashed for this to work?? I appreciate the help, im new to this!
