I have the 32-bit Windows version of nero video. My system is actually 64-bit, so I would like to change my version to the 64-bit version. Does anyone know how I can do this? If I uninstall the current version, will I lose the projects I created with it?
If I remember correctly, there is no 64 bit version of any Nero product. You can always cross check with tech support.
Interesting. I saw a site on the internet that talked about it but found no direct link for a download. Perhaps it is something still being developed.
The Nero automated assistant says that the 64-bit version is available on the website, however all I see is a way to download Nero Video and not a specific version. It seems you should at least be able to select the Windows or Mac version.
There's some confusing information on the net regarding Nero, but most of it is about how Nero can run on 64bit systems. The quote is copied directly from Nero's support. Here's the link. https://support.nero.com/en/support/solutions/articles/44001769307-64-bit-support
Wait for tech support to respond. I was in the Nero forum for 12 years and that question came up frequently with the reply that they weren't going to release a 64 bit version of any of there apps. Of course, that forum closed 4 years ago but to my knowledge, there's still no 64 bit version. Let us know what tech support has to say. If you don't get an answer, I'll go directly to the appropriate Nero manager.
Well, it has been 3 days and still no response. Can you please contact the appropriate manager for this answer?
Such an easy question, how can it take over a week to Simply find out if there is a 64-bit version of this program?
Has there been any response yet? I'm beginning to think we now live in a world where customer service no longer exists.
I'm informed that the Nero Support Agent is incorrect and will be corrected. There are no 64 bit Nero apps.
The benefit of 64bit over 32bit is its ability to handle larger chunks of data, which can but not necessarily speed things up, but there is no improvement to the end result. Also porting an application to 64 bit from 32bit doesn't give any benefit unless the application can use more than 4GB of memory.
Next time you use it open task manager. If ram use isn't over the 4gb limit then i see no advantage. Encoding with multiple cores if it can use them is a different story. Unless nero can encode more than one vid at a time then yeah you'll need more ram most likely. That said its been a while since i've done any encoding & can't recall ram usage tho having more cores made things a lot faster
