have you explored the avenue of Slysofts Anydvd. This program will allow you to bypass the encryptions (decss) and also the region codes (rce) that is inherent in most commercially made dvds (tes store bought or ones you rent)

    Just google for it...........

    or better yet

    Hi Demon1777
To back up copy protected movies that you own here's 2 suggestions for you:
*Rip w/ DVDFab Decrypter (free) then use Nero's Recode to encode & burn.
    http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
*Or have AnyDVD running behind Recode to remove the copy protection.
Not free but has a 21 day free trial.

Both of these apps are updated to handle the latest copy protections.

Demon1777 if you are downloading movies from the net like torrent files or file sharing, the copyprotection will be gone from them, but that is a no no, we talk only about the movies that we own or bought on the net , yes there are some sites on the net that work on a pay per view system, most of them have a code in them so you can't burn them to disk so they say, and you can run in to all sort's of problems with some of the stuff you get from file sharing sites like virus, can mess up your system real fast, so if the movie that you are wanting real bad just go out and buy it that way you know that you are geting the real thing, good luck and happy burning.
