Hello, I attempted installing the newest driver for my ATI graphics card, but it doesn't let me, suggesting that my CD key for windows is not legitimate. What can I do to install the newest version of the ATI driver- it would eliminate some video game issues. I appreciate any help.
It means that your windows Xp is a pirated copy....and don't bother asking about it.........Because piracy isn't supported
I've never heard of a video card driver requiring a windows key. Try going to ati.com and looking for drivers instead of using windowsupdate, that's usually a better practice anyway.
Well in case I created any confusion: It doesnt ask for my windows CD-key it just seems to check my system for it automatically. And yes, I downloaded the driver from ATI.com but in the title it has- 'Microsoft.NET Framework".
That's even weirder. I've never heard of ATI drivers requiring .net framework. See if there's alternative drivers that don't say .net?!
Hey TomMelee- are you familiar with the word superawesome? According to urbandictionary.com... n. State of enhanced awesome that excels any sort of preconceived notions of excellence. adj. When one is at the point of feeling pure invisibility, incredible strength, and magnificent sexual virility. Sounds like its describing you. Thanks for the help.
Lol...so...you're having success? Or are you making fun of me? Lol, no worries one way or the other. My skin is thick like hippo. ;-) Put up the card model as well, maybe we can find an alternative driver if you can't get one @ ati.
Not making fun of you, on their website I downloaded the version for low-bandwith users that didn't include a lot of mumbo-jumbo I didn't need- which yielded success. Thanks again.
well, hmm, get the full version of the ati driver instead of dl the low-bandwith version of the driver updates, also if it still continues, try dl the drivers at cnet, if they have there, (too lazy to check)
A word to the wise... Windows Genuine Advantage implementation isn't...shall we say...bugproof. You don't know whether or not his version is legit just because some BS .msi told him it was. And...glad you got it fixt mate. Also check out www.guru3d.com , they have some fun custom drivers for ati and nvidia cards.
Ummm yea it is bug free and he would of said he had a legit windows but he doesn't......And even if he did don't you think he is smart enough to tell us that he does have a legit windows or he would of called microsoft...... I just did a search on reports on bugs on Microsoft Genuine Advantage and none I found
Really? http://www.google.com/search?hs=qLj...&q=windows+genuine+advantage++bug&btnG=Search http://www.google.com/search?hs=V13...=windows+genuine+advantage++error&btnG=Search http://www.google.com/search?hs=2iO...S:official&q=windows+cd+key+error&btnG=Search Besides that, just because MS's implementation could possibly be "bug free" (I'm still laughing that you'd call anything MS does "bug free), that doesn't mean that ATI didn't package a driver wrong, or set a wrong radio button when they made the install. Actually, that's one of the reasons I left ati a long time ago, was faulty driver install packs. Never, ever make the mistake of assuming anything about windows, other than that it might begin screwing up for no apparent reason. Anyway, from my interpretation, what is banned is telling people how to circumvent WGA, where to find new keys, changing keys, that sort of thing. He didn't ask for that, he asked for help w/ a driver. Problem solved.
Yea i searched that but it says that the people are having trouble installing it....... And what are the chances he has a legit copy of windows when in the thread he says nothing about having a Legit Windows...So i can ASSUME(yes i said it) that he has a Pirate copy of windows........He would of had an even bigger problem if that was the case........He wouldn't be worrying on his Card, but on his registry.......Which i think he would of done first........... And i know he got it fixed.....But as he said he needed to pass the tool....Even though that wasn't the case because i have an ATI card and it came with a driver CD.......But i am still making a point out about it I am not fighting with you over something stupid It was an assumption
