Hello, I Have a dsl router connected to a switch which connects two PC's. Both have static IP's and one I've set up to host a public game. Other people can join over the net while I play on the host computer but I cant join from my second PC through either LAN or from the list of public servers. It finds my game but times out when I try to join, With the host set to LAN only everything works fine, when I set LAN only to "no" I get this problem. Is there anyway around this? EDIT. if this helps This was copied from the games config file. The port I forwarded to get the server to work is 32768. // MULTIPLAYER mpipaddressstring = "0.0.0.0" mpgateserverlocalportmin = "49152" mpgateserverlocalportmax = "65536" mpgateserverlocalportdelta = "1" mpgateserverlocalportrandom = "0" mpnovaworldportmin = "32768" mpnovaworldportmax = "32787" mpnovaworldportdelta = "1" mpnovaworldportrandom = "0" mpnovaworldlanenumsessionportmin = "32768" mpnovaworldlanenumsessionportmax = "32787" mpnovaworldlanenumsessionportdelta = "1" mplanserverportmin = "32768" mplanserverportmax = "32787" mplanserverportdelta = "1" mplanclientportmin = "32768" mplanclientportmax = "65535" mplanclientportdelta = "1" mplanclientportrandom = "0" mplanservertojoinportmin = "32768" mplanservertojoinportmax = "32787" mplanservertojoinportdelta = "1" Is there anything I can change in here to make it work?
Because you are 'inside' your own LAN, you cant access your public IP address. I have the same issue with my websites and FTP sites that I run. I use the private IP address to view the sites. I dont know how the game works, but can you join a game based on IP address? If so, use your private IP. ~Rich
Hey thanks for the reply, Yep I've found out that I cant do it with out a second connection or a router that allows "loopback" or something.
