Hi all, Some background info for you first. I am the owner of a small business with a billion BiPAC 7300(G) 4 port plus wifi router. Wifi is disconnected. Port 2-4 are stand alone computers for my employees to use and port 1 goes to an 8 port switch in my office with 3 computers and a print server. I am on a 25 GB/month plan and the last two months i have hit quoter about 10 days from end of month and get slowed to 54kbs. Before i would only use about GB to GB at best. After having a look at all the computers in the place i can't find any per to per or the like and all staff say it wasn't them (surprise surprise) With this setup how do i monitor the web use on my network. I am trying not to set up a server if i can get away with it. Can anyone please help?
i used a program called netmeter i believe that is what it was called a while back and it seemed to work fine, it would monitor the total upload downloads, and you can set it to warn you when you reached a certain amount. not sure how it would work on a network as i believe it was designed to run on a single computer.
Thank you wabashman, However this program you told me about only does the total download for one computer from what i can see. What i need is a program i can run from my computer to monitor what each port of my router is downloading. Maybe software may not be the way to go! Can anyone give me some clues on hardware that i could use to do this? Thank you all for taking the time to read my post and help me !!!
