How do I open ports on Mac Leopard?

This is a macbook. Do you know how to open ports so I can downloads faster? Or any other ways to make transfer speeds better?

    I am using Transmission (BitTorrent)

If you don't have your Leopard firewall enabled, your ports are open. However, you may have to open your router ports with your router software.

Check out a program called Lighthouse, it opens any ports you need automatically. It costs 12.99, but if you torrent a lot, it's worth it.

Maybe you can get Lighthouse from a Torrent.... ;p JK
Yes the ports will be open if your firewall is off... It is off by default!

I know if you're using an Airport Extreme, you still have to open the ports on the router, even if the firewall is off. I could never get it to work right. I did have them open for a while, but they got closed, I still don't know why.

Well yes, if you are using any router you need to open the ports.
