I bought my first LCD display, it is a widescreen 17' Viewsonic, my problem is how do i disable the autostretching of games which have only 4:3 display support. For an example, i am playing the classic reflexive arcade games, but most of them are 4:3 and when i display then on my monitor they all looks stretched out. I am currently running on onboard graphics which is "S3 Chrome 9 Deltachrome" i want to find out how to disable the autos stretch so that i can play games in proper 4:3 ratio with black boarders on both sides. Does anyone know how to do it with my current vga and monitor?
Doing this usually requires a control centre panel for the graphics software, which SiS graphics are unlikely to have. Right click on your desktop, go properties, click the settings tab, then go advanced. If there's an option to do it, it'll probably be in there.
Check to see if any of those games allows you to play in windowed mode. The windowed mode will 4:3, so it won't distort the display.
look and see if there's a "Panel Fit" option... There should be a "Keep Aspect Ratio" option or something similar to that...
I can't see anything like that friends, but windowed mode works and games get really tiny . but can't help! it anyways,
That's kind of a happy ending, the resolution would still be naff if you say they're tiny (i.e. if you had got it to fullscreen but be the right aspect ratio it would still look crummy because the image had been expanded) and if they're free games you probably can't increase the res. Even if you did have the option to your graphics card probably wouldn't be up to it.
I guess you guys are right but, by the way does anyone know how to tweak my graphic card, you know what i am talking about, some utility which can alter certain options which is not allowed by default, S3 chrome9 control panel has almost nothing there, just three options thats it. Or maybe i need to buy a proper graphics card for this.
