I've been converting some of my vhs tapes onto dvd-r using my Panosonic DMR-E30 dvd recorder. The problem is, is that the recorder automatically inserts chapter breaks into the video. When you watch the video on the dvd-r and it transitions from one chapter to another, there is a split second glitch in the video. I've checked the manual and there is no way of turning this feature off. Is there any way to remove the chapter breaks so it will be just one chapter from start to finish?
If you Imported the Files to your PC and then re-authored the Files to DVD without adding Chapters then that would solve the Problem..It seems that the DVD Recorder isn"t Just Inserting Chapter Points but also Starting a New File because all DVD"s have Chapters in them But they DVD never have a Delay at each Chapter like yours do so it seems that it is probably Recording each Chapter into a seperate File on the DVD and that is why there is a Break between Chapters...You could record to DVD-+RW and then Rip the File to your PC and then re-author the Files to DVD-R and this way you don"t waste 2 DVD"s for each Movie you record...well good Luck
Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try. I'm gonna have to use two discs because my dvd recorder wont record to dvd +-rw.
Hey nrk4594, as a slight modification to Minion's advise...you don't have to re-author. Just extract the VOBs from the messed up DVD you have already created(using something like DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink) and then edit the VOBs to remove the chapters. DVD-Lab provides a 30-day trial version that edits VOBs and can easily add/remove chapter points, without re-authoring. It also creates menu, etc... This way you don't loose any quality, which you probably would when re-authoring.
