I'm trying to back up a movie and I want to remove the black bars from the top and bottom. Why in gods name would they put them there in the first place? My tv screen is small enough as it is. I tried using ifo dit but it's kinda complicated. Thanks.

well thats because the video is in widescreen format. I think you should watch it the way the directors wanted you to see it, with a new widescreen tv, or keep the black bars. I wouldnt mess with it because the people would be really awkward looking.

Hit the zoom button once on your remote, that will take care of it. It will then look fullscreen.
