Is there a way to reuse a DVD+RW once it has a DVD ROM book type? I placed an AVI file on a DVD+RW and NERO burned it as a DVD ROM. Now, I would like to erase and burn another image to the DVD but it is being read as a DVD ROM and will not let me erase it. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the sugg Attar. I tried Imgburn and it did not revert the DVD back to a recognizable (burnable)DVD+RW. It will erase the disk, but it will not change the media back to DVD+RW. Then, when i try to burn imgburn thinks the disk is a full DVD ROM.

Thanks Varnull. I did review the links in your post but did not find information on how to change the "Compatibility Bitsettings" already set on the DVD media. For the sake of rewritable media, I would like to be able to burn on these DVD's again, but i can't get any program to recognize them as "empty and recordable". I have Nero Express and it doesn't have the "Change Booktype" button so I have converted to imgburn. Imgburn will erase the data on the DVD+RW (I open the DVD and nothing is there), but the current profile remains: DVD ROM, and in write mode, imgburn states "Disc not empty" in the lower left corner. Thanks for your patients..."A system is only as fast as it's slowest component...and right now...I am the slowest component" slow45

I tried overwriting but Nero asks for a blank DVD. I've updated all my firmware and software, but imgburn keeps stating "Disk not empty" even after I've erased it the "quick" erase along with the "full erase". Also, the "Currnet profile: DVD-ROM" never changes back to DVD+RW. I hope someone comes along with a simple answer. For heaven's sake, aren't you supposed to be able to rewrite over and over again with a DVD+RW?

Disable "Ignore Media Type" in Alcohol.

Thanks for the Sugg Rouxje, but its been unchecked throughout my attempts. After complete uninstalls of programs and codecs, then reinstalling imgburn, I've been able to erase the DVD+RW. What's bugs me is that I can only erase with imgburn. Nero and Alcohol still will not erase or see the DVD as an empty DVD+RW once it has been erased by imgburn. I'll keep trying.
