    Hey guys,

I am starting this topic because I have a TV Tuner on my computer and I have a lot of TV shows on my DVR. I want to capture the shows off of my DVR and keep them digitally.

I have tried programs like Virtual VCR and WinTV, but neither do a good job at capturing the program or compressing the video.

I have the DIVX Pro Codec and the XVID Codec.

I have sucessfully used Intervideo WinDVR to capture great quality video, but it does not compress the file size. Once I try to compress the file size, I get really crappy quality and the file is still very large.

I know that people capture shows all of the time and put them on the Tracker, but I have to figure out how they do it and with what programs.

So, if anyone feels obliged to giving me some tips I would be greatful.

I have some great shows in full season quantities that cannot be found anywhere on the net.

    Thanks.

Hi man.If you have a hauppauge tv tuner u can use it's latest wintv2000 to capture video and you can compress it realtime while capturing to xvid or divx.I'd suggest you use xvid at highest possible bitrate, only one pass, and normal search estimation in order to avoid many dropped frames.Capturing in mpeg4 (divx, xvid etc) needs a really fast cpu above 2 ghz..Otherwise u can virtualdub to capture..it has so many options and u can find many tutorials around. Also u can do this with nerovision.I recommend this if you gonna burn them on dvd so you can use nero's mpeg2 encoder.
