How do i split a 7.40 gig disc onto 2 dvd- r's?

My dad just bought the complete history of the Pittsburgh Steelers and i want to burn it for myself, but the first disc has 7.40 g's on it , how do i split it up , so I can put it on 2 discs?

are you not familiar with DVD shrink then? it will compress your 7.4gigs to fit on a normal 4.7gig blank.
