    redscorpi,

I have bellsouth DSL with the westell modem. I tried to follow your instructions to configure the modem, but I have a problem. When I click "expert mode" followed by clicking yes, when the following page loads there are no buttons to click. No "configure" or anything. Why would it be doing this?

    My setup:
Westell modem > Netgear switch > laptop

First, dump BitLord. Just a copy of an earlier version of BitComet and its bugs, also has adware: http://www.zeropaid.com/bitlord/ I would recommend utorrent 1.6, v 474 with updates at options>preferences>general disabled due to the developers association with the MPAA since: http://filehippo.com/download_utorrent/?1258 and Protocol Encryption: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/395674 Also, not the default port but over 10,000. Slow speeds could be due to any number of reasons; low connections, amount of file available, proper upload speed settings and more.

I doubt it, maybe Protocol Encryption or a port that other processes use like 480 or 1720.

No offense at all to you mistycat, but neither of those will work if the isp is truly throttling bittorrent. Your only options are tunneling or using a VPN.

My first guess (which is usally right lol) is that you are using some random public tracker with a trillion leechers and 5 seeders. Am I right? If not, post a speed test result. Here is a pretty reliable link http://speedtest.net/index.php

Thats is your problem then. If you have a green light in your client, then you are open to the world....now you just need people to share. I suspect the typical public torrent user caps their upload speed to 5ish kbps, so rest assured it isnt anything wrong on your part, rather the source is the problem.

No, a port over 10,000 that isn't the default and over 50,000 for Azureus.

I'm on Comcast cable, use bittorrent, and I'm downloading at 480kB/s after previously maxing out at the 30-40s range. I downloaded an Axxo movie in 30 minutes. Is this normal?? I haven't even opened up the port on my router.

After my previous speeds I think this is too good to be true and wonder if it'll last.

Way too little information to even try to help you. To compare, I have a 16 mbit connection which equals 2000KB/s downstream....and no it is not to good to be true. Your connection is very average honestly (about 4 mbit), forward ports and you will achieve higher speeds.
