Sup ppl, i to am behind the great wall of comcast , with their 8mbps line here in New England , I ve been tweaking Bitcomet and broke the 500 KBps download per torrent barrier. today an overly popular cam was downloading well over 600 KBs which give me a total of just a tick under 1000KBs.

Well it probably did hit the 1000Kbs but i wasnt watching it. Anyway here are some of my number from NE's Comcast pipe.

Download Speed: 24432 kbps (3054KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 55 kbps (6.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

    Last Result:
Download Speed: 31886 kbps (3985.8KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1794 kbps (224.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

    Last Result:
Download Speed: 30660 kbps (3832.5KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1778 kbps (222.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

    Last Result:
Download Speed: 31084 kbps (3885.5KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1752 kbps (219 KB/sec transfer rate)

well That's All Folks ,sorry if your connection suxs , call your congress men or move to a better city.

I'm sure this has been echoed several times in here but I will tell you without any reservation that 90% of the download speed issues are due to where you are getting your file. If you are on a public tracker your speed will be terrible. You need to get access to a private tracker. I went from between 2 to 5 kb/s to 1mb/s. No changes to any settings.

So before posting or reading any other suggestions...try to get a membership from a private tracker.

    Lates!

Just direct Azureus to the same download folder. Low speeds can have many causes, router not forwarded, low seed to peer ratio, amount of connections, ISP throttling: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs amount you have downloaded related to peers you are connected to. etc. Set your upload speed to 80%, 232 kb (bits) comes to 29 kB (bytes), take 80% of that.

    Hey all,

I see that this forum is very big and i have tried to read through as much as i can but i still have a question. I have got Bittorrent and am constantly getting speeds of only ~5kb/s i should be going at over 50 i think but there is a green light so everything seems ok. What do i do? I am downloading a 20GB file and am well on my way although in future i want to know how to increase speeds?

    Thanks.

LOL , 20gs , Time and lots of it , i can tell you unless its really really popular is going to take awhile no matter what you do. People on private trackers ain't really going to mess with something that big. And public tracks ain't keeping ratios. >;P GOOD LUCK

I get 500+ downloads all the time using Bitlord and a 10mbps cable modem. You guys must me using the wrong shit. Also keep in mind that it doesn't really matter how fast you can download if you don't have enough seeders with a fast upload rate.

Do you use a router, if so, you have to port forward it? Use a port over 50,000 andb disable UPnp: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/UPnP Make sure Azureus is an exception in any firewall you use. If you have a router, you may need a staic ip address: http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm Use protocol Encryption: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/395674 Set Do a speedtest and set your upload speed to 80%, make sure to keep kb (bits) and kB (bytes) seperate 1kB = 8 kb, most speedtest are in kb and azureus may be in kB: http://www.speedtest.net/ Check this list for ISP's that throttle torrents and there are more: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs Finally, edit out your email, against forum rules and not a good idea anyway. Edit: beat me to it.
