i'm a newbie... a co-worker introduced me to burning my own vcd/svcds... so far i burned three but they're all not good... burn 1) i downloaded a .cue/.bin file and when i burned it using nero 5.5.10.15/cdrwin/vcdeasy i can only watch it using winDVD and not on my dvd player (philips 711). burn 2) i downloaded a .avi file - other people who reviewed it said that it's a perfect release no problems whatsoever... but when i burned it using nero the first 5 minutes was good and then after that it freezes for a second then plays and then freezes again after 30 seconds. it keeps doing the same thing... i stopped the movie. burn 3) same as burn 2 - freezes and occassionaly there's "squares" appearing randomly all over the screen. i guess my question is: a) how do you properly burn .cue/.bin files so that you can watch it on a dvd player? b) how do you burn .avi file to make it a vcd so that no more encoding is needed (like what nero does)? c) for future reference, how do you properly burn a .mpg/.mpeg to make it an svcd? all this questions apply to watching the end result in a regular dvd player like philips 711. i don't know how more specific i can be stating my situations here. but if i'm not please just ask me... thank you for your help!
The downloaded .bin/.cue could have been either PAL or NTSC so if you live in Europe (PAL) and got an NTSC download then it wouldnt work most of the time in your dvd player! As for encoding avi to (s)vcd, dont use nero for the encoding, use TMPGEnc - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/tmpgenc.cfm but if you wish to create SVCD then you will need the full TMPGEnc which can be purchased from http://www.pegasys-inc.com the trial will allow you to make svcd for 30 days though!
