I've been using TMPGenc Plus for all my video converting needs and so far its been great. I'm pretty new, but with the wizard/templates its all pretty simple but I've just now come across all these formats and was wondering how you would go about converting them with TMPGenc? As it appears to only do / have templates for 4:3, 16:9 and 2:21. "If its full screen choose 4:3 display, if widescreen, 16:9 will work in most cases" is what it says in the guide found on this site, but I don't know if these are widescreen variations or not. Either way it doesn't work they come out stretched in some way or another. I use avicodec to get my info but really only know how to use it for getting the 4:3 or 16:9 info. Video : 617 MB, 703 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 660*270 (2.44:1), DX50 = DivXNetworks Divx v5, Supported Is an example of one. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Tmpgenc automatically recognizes the aspect ratio of the source pixels as 1:1 when you have this type of avi file. If you choose 4:3 for the mpeg output, the program will format the picture so that it maintains the correct a/r on a 4:3 TV. If you choose 16:9 (anamorphic picture) the program formats the picture so that it looks right when it's stretched side-to-side on the wide screen TV. On the otherhand if you set the "tv type" to 4:3 in the DVD player, the player will format it for the 4:3 screen. This will make it look as it does in the first case above - but this option is better, because it works right on 4:3 or 16:9 TV's, controlled by the setting in the DVD player.
