I have many old super 8mm. I can't afford to use the video transfer sites. I was hoping there was a cheaper way to transfer them to VHS. What hardware and software do you need?
Not sure if you found your answers, but start reading here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/110821 Take a look through ALL the posts that mention "VHS to DVD", as much of the information also applies to 8mm to DVD.
You could plug the 8mm camera into the VCR via the yellow and white A/V cables. If you don't have the camera anymore you need something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21168&item=7501584387&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW it would plug directly into your VCR.
