I have a board that supports Dual channel ddr 3200 and I have 2-1gb modules of dual channel A-DATA 3-4-4-4 Latency memory that I have reduced to 2.5-3-3-3 with no memory errors or hiccups but my board and Sandra benchmark software still says that memory is on one channel not dual channel. How can I enable dual channel mode and also will this increase my overall memory benchmarks. My total benchmarks for memory is at stock latency(3-4-4-4 with out SSE settings on) was 8001 I believe and then with SSE settings on and reduced latency to 2.5-3-3-3 my total benchmark went up to 9112. I imagine it will be higher once I get a graphic card and perhaps enable dual channel mode? Is this correct? I need help.
I have Biostar T-force6100-939 Micro ATX mobo and AMD 3700 processor. I have checked the bios but don't see anything that I can recognize that would enable dual channel mode. Again I am a newbie builder and this is my first computer build-which I have to say I did a pretty damn good job. I have 2 1-gb A-DATA Vitesta (model #ADBGC1A16K) My cas latency is 2.5-3-3-3 Nothing is overclocked
Hopefully, you didn't miss the obvious. In order to enable dual channel, the mem mods must first be installed accordingly. In the case of your motherboard, one module must be installed in each orange, or yellow slots. Not one of each. So, install one mod in the first orange slot, then the other in the other orange slot. Since there's only around 1000 different BIOS settings screens, it's difficult to guess where your dual memory channel enable screen would be located, but I'd guess it's in the Advanced BIOS options.
Sounds good. Didn't see any thing in the mobo manual that states how to enable dual channel mode. Will try your suggestions. SO if I were to go into Advance Bios chipset option, what do I look for then?
I don't know that you have to enable it, at all. I didn't on my Asus mobo. But I did change latency settings on my Corsair DDR RAM, in the BIOS.
It all depends on the BIOS and it's version, who made it...etc. For my Gigabyte board, it was enabled as soon as it was detected. One thread on this forum asked if there were three chips, would dual channel still be enabled?? The answer is...maybe, with my board it was if you put the mods in the correct channels. In the case of the GA-7N400-L, it's slots 1,2 and 4. 2 and 4 would run in dual channel, 1 in single mode. For the Soyo board I am using in the main machine now, you must enable dual channel support in the BIOS, as it's off by default. Even if dual channel mods are installed. The only dual channel options this board has is if two or four slots are used...three mods means single channel only.
Darn. I have tried every thing and I can' seem to find a way to enable dual channel mode although my mobo and memory does support it. Some told me that modules 2 and 4(which is orange in color) but even this doesn't enable it. I really don't see any thing on the bios that would enable or disable it either. Can anyone assist me?
