I have a 2003 xbox with the standard DVD ROM Reader model TG M600. I wanted to put a different DVD ROM in my xbox thats about half the thickness of the DVD ROM Reader I have right now. I have taken my xbox out of its original case and have put it into my millenium falcon(which is about the same size), but the DVD ROM Reader doesn't fit. Does anyone know how I can get a DVD ROM that is half the thickness of a standered xbox dvd rom or does anyone know how to turn a laptop DVD ROM Reader into an xbox DVD ROM Reader? If someone knows how to turn a laptop dvd rom into an xbox dvd rom could you send me the info in a step by step e-mail?

I don't think you can.. Try xboxscene..If anyone knows they will..I have never heard of it being attempted before, the only drives I have heard of being converted are the samsung 616 and a lg one, both normal size..Great project!

How good is your soldering and electronics knowledge?

I've never soldered before but I'm going to have to in order to extend my control ports and the wires connecting my eject and power button, there to short to reach the points I want to place them. I was looking for some already constructed control ports on the net, that have longer wires, but couldn't find any. My electronic skills are not very high but I'm learning the ways.

Does anyone know were I could get my hands on some longer control ports or does anyone know what kind of wire the control ports are made of?
