Because I'd rather spend my dinero on discs and cats, Mort. After all, I AM a catfreak and the only Epson printer I ever had (years and years ago) was a POS
I really like my R200. Not only for printing on media but also for photos and as a general all purpose printer. You want to talk about a POS, I had a lexmark X73 and it was pure junk. One cartridge (it had one black and one color cartridge) cost more than the whole set for my R200 (6 cartridges total). It took 3 times longer to print and the print quality sucked.
I agree with you Mort81. Got an X73 basically for free and gave it to my son. Didn't work worth a damn and to this day, I can't get that POS completely cleared out of his computer. some part of the installation software just won't delete.
I got a quick Question - I wanna buy a printer that can print on my dvds problem is im confused.. ok i Know on the WHITE Printable DVD-R (TY) you can print on them , cause my friend does this, but what about the THERMAL Printable ones (shiny silver) - cause i bought 100 of these, and i was wondering if uoi could even print on them, if so please let me know thnx in advance regards stathis
i use a canon pixma ip4000. Have worked out that on the 5 ink tanks that come with it you can do 357(give or take) discs before the ink starts to come out un even.Thats pretty good.Ive had the tanks for 4 weeks and have just now changed them
well thats strange, cause the place i bought these discs says that the Thermal Printable ones can only be printed on my a Special Thermal Printer that costs like $1000-$3000, and that inkjet printers can not print on these only... the inkjet printable ones (plain white)... ill give you a link of the site containing the exact discs http://www.jpldisplays.com.au/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_25&products_id=390 please help.. i really wanna be sure b4 i dish out acouple of hundred dollars for a printer regards Stathis
yeah true...same here...i dont care if it looks pretty..the quality of the media is more important and that i know whats on my backups
yes same here using a printer or NOT using a printer the movie still looks and plays the same THAT is what counts. so def. sharpies for me also
Whoa, whoa. You can NOT print on THERMAL printable DVDs with an ink jet. Trust me. I ordered 100 of the silver (supposedly ink jet printable) DVDs from an unnamed location, and got the thermals instead. Since I was lazy, I just decided to keep them and try it. Well, you can print on them, but it rubs off immediately. It won't dry, and does not work. Ref. stick-on labels vs printing. I have done some fairly extensive tests on the stick-on labels and the problems they cause. No matter what system you use - and I've used many of the label systems that supposedly center it for you, etc - they will eventually cause problems. I'm still not sure if it is heat causing problems with the glue, but I can tell you it is not a PERMANENT problem. If you remove the label, and all the glue (i.e. use Goo-be-gone or some such) your DVD will work correctly again. You can even do before and after bit error testing. before the label goes on, BER is low, after it is on, it often jumps up markedly, and then once removed it is low again. Perhaps it affects the reflectivity of the DVD...hmm.
just look at alkohol's dvd's he makes, they are awesome !!! his latest (at least by sig post) was unleashed with jet li.... that copy came out like an original. and his is done by printer, not sure what he has, but it looks mighty good !
Printable Hub media, Movie Collector software, R200 Epson. By the time I label my backup using a Sharpie...a few more seconds and the image can be printed on the media. Very simple, professional, and visually satisfying.
I guess maybe I should throw out those paper labels and just stick with my sharpie. Interesting thing I do.... I get blank DVD cases from Blockbuster that they are going to throw away, and print the inserts from www.cdcovers.cc, or scan them in. That way the case looks awsome, even though I wrote with a sharpie on the disk.
@gear79, Yes... that is Jet Li's Unleashed: Unrated version - and its dvd cover. I have the Epson R300 Inkjet Photo Printer (love this printer) with genuine Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD+R Silver Inkjet Printable disc from supermedia.com - I use Adobe PhotoShop 8 to do all my text editing, picture touch up, picture resize/fixing contrast and colors, etc.
