i installed it, but when i ran the prgram on my computer it says it oculdnt fin my ps3. it says to make sure the ssdp discovery thing is enabled but i dont know where that is??
unless someone made a guide its...a length explanation but easy to do. apparently UPnP has a big role to do with this too. as i use nero media home(EASY) but windows media player 11 won't even recognize my ps3. type in the exact title of your thread in google. tons of results. it also shows you the windows media player 11 way in the ps3 manual under networks settings. ^_^v good luck.
first what os are you running? Also there is one program that is free and is the best media server software for the PS3 by far. I have been using it and it has been streaming HD movies flawlessly. As well as music, videos, photos etc. Let me know what system you are on and are you doing this wirelessly or wired. I will try to help as I have been streaming for about a year.
I also couldn't get the damn thing running so I just stuck with tversity. I am using XP 32 wireless streaming so if any one could shed some light that would be great.
Exact same situation. I've tried several times...but Windwows Media Player 11 would not locate my PS3. I use Nero...at it is faily simple....but Nero is invasive. Also, UPnP is key, and some of the early model Linksys wireless routers (WRT54G's) will not work when UPnP is enabled....so I'm guessing that is why WMP11 won't locate my PS3
There is also another pretty easy one to setup. It's called the Java PS3 Media Server. Not sure how it is yet, but lots of people say it works really good. I'm going to set it up when I get back home in a few hours. But Here is the link to download it. I tested it with Norton and it's virus free. =) Also, here are the links to two youtube videos that show you how to set it up. Part 1 Part 2 Enjoy. =)
yep the java ps3 mdeia server software is the one to get. it runs flawlessly. I have used it with linksys router and with the 2wire router i am using now. i have orb and tversity running on another computer and my ps3's see all of them. the java server will not see the ps3 unless you have the ps3 running. but once you turn on the ps3 it should see the java server.
From my understanding it is the only media server to support full 100Mbps network speeds (though I thought Tversity did the same?) ~ http://translate.google.nl/translat...ia-server-5199.html&sl=nl&tl=en&swap=1&swap=1 I am trying to see if it supports gigabit routers as well but haven't found any info yet...anyone care to interject some enlightenment on the subject?
I remember reading something about it (not just supporting but USING the speed increase) but I must not have kept the link...if it can be confirmed I might just have to get me that router a little bit sooner than expected
