Hey all i was wanting to know how you steer when driving your car like do you have both hands on the wheel griped real hard and under steer or turns by not letting the steering wheel do a full rotation like most L drivers Or do you have your way. I’m wanting to get into the habit of using the palm of my hand so i can do turns quicker and easier not like every other L plated driver which grips it with all there mite and don’t let it do rotations just a little
Isnt that when you use 1 hand to do half a turn and anther hand pushing so it causes less strees on your palm and then with other hand kinda pull thats what ive been doing pretty complex but thats cause its me
you don't want to just steer with the palms of your hands. there's not near enough friction with this method to maintain the force necessary to keep your wheel under absolute control, increasing the likelyhood of something unintended happening with the vehicle. my car's a stick shift, and because i need to be able to free up one hand quickly, i've just learned to keep a good grip with my left hand while steering, using the right only when added speed to maneuvering is necessary. it just takes practice. to increase my grip, i've added leather driving gloves to my daily gear and, for me, it makes all the difference in the world. if you really want to be able to spin the wheel fast, you could invest in one of the steering balls you often see on tractors and farm gear. it's just a little rotating ball mounted on a small shaft that clamps to the wheel. you can keep a good grip on that and spin the wheel one-handed; it's similar to the palm-technique, but offers much more control. overall, though, you're never going to steer better than when you have both hands on the wheel. hand-over-hand is the most controlled technique and thus is the one most people are trained with.
it is complex but it works well. only use one hand with the palm on the wheel every now and then. and then only at slow speeds
you don't need to change the steering wheel to steer faster, anyway. being able to spin your wheel quickly is not going to help you with "extreme driving" by itself, anyway. if that's what you want to get into, a stunt or racing school would be a very good investment.
I just wana be able to steer like the junkies in there VN commo's oh well i will get it some day thanks for all the advice so far.
yea know what ya mean. Also not to sound like a poof but on turns i kinda get scared to do more then 1 turn like when traveling at 40KM around corners the 1's which ur ment to stop at i kinda just to like 3 quarters of a turn and dont really feel comfotrble doing more the 1 turn oh well takes experince.
damn son, I take some corners at over 80km/h and some speed bumps at 160km/h and your worried about 40km/h. Your young right? practise the basics for a few years before you go out hooning around. get used to the feel of the car first that way you are less likely to end up wrapped round a lightpost in Semaphore
more than one turn of the wheel around a corner where you're meant to stop? sounds like you're trying to drift. dang, boy, there's a lot to learn and master before you can do that with any control. as the bubbster said, you need to become a good driver before you get crazy and become a great driver. walk before you run and all. the best thing anyone can do, in my humble ol' opinion, to improve one's driving and driving experience is...buy a subaru. yes, i think i should be a subie salesmonkey, too.
lol subbies the good old VH with the cut down springs. nah i aint really trying to drift just need experince i do but dad wont let me since i got suspended for fighting
subaru's make bad drivers because you don't really need any skill to look like an ok driver. they are damn hard to loose control of. I know because I've tried. Start off with a normal non-flash 4 cylinder car, and then move up from there.
in defense of the subie, they are great vehicles to move up to. you can't start off much worse than i did and still have running vehicles, and from that i've learned how to push cars like the 'buru to the edge. ^.~
