How do people store their discs? In jewel cases? In carrying cases? On the spindle? I use all three methods, but wanted to know if there was a preferred one. Spindles save on space, but are inconvenient when looking for a disc. Jewel cases are bulky and take up a bit of space, but make for convenient sifting and sorting. Carrying cases seem to be the best of both worlds. Anybody have a preference?
I store my factory DVDs in the original cases and my backups in binder that has pages similar to those in CD wallets.
I store all my 800+ back ups in individual DVD cases. However, this is for reference purpose as the way Nephilium suggested would most likely be better, especially if they have the soft backing inside each plastic holder. Try to keep discs out of direct sunlight and temperatures over 25 degrees celsius and below 5 degrees. They should be fine
I will have to agree with Nephilim - I store my factory dvds in their original case and binders of 200-256 for the burnt cds/dvds. It seems to work good, I have cds that I burnt in 1994 stored that way that still read ok. The location is also important - make sure it is a cool, dry, climate controlled area away from direct sunlight.
I keep all my DVDs (and CDs) in binders. I don't have nearly enough room for all my DVD cases, and it's easier to keep them organized and away from the kids. The only problem I have with this is that I can't keep the covers with them, but honestly it's not that big a deal.
i have a Case Logic 96-CD carrying case that i bought maybe five or six years ago, with sleeves with soft backing inside, and at some point i was disturbed to notice that it seemed to be scratching my cds quite a bit. can anybody recommend a specific type of carrying case that's good for long-term frequent use?

Ya tell me about it ... you know you have too much when you dont say "I have x cds" but rather "I have x kilograms of cds"
I basically use all three as well, with the following situations: CD Jewel Cases - Storing important CDs for long period of time, without frequent access. CD Wallets - Storing important CDs that are frequently accessed. CD Spindles - Storing CDs that are less important and are accessed very frequently, by many people. That is my way. SuperG03
i used to store mine on spindles but 1 day i pulled out a spindle to find 1 of the kids spilt coke on it and never let on and now i have a cd thats 6" thick so never again
LMAO ... that's cleanable though.... depending on the severity of course ... just takes patience ... but now you know when u use spindles, make sure you have the plastic shell casing
tried cleaning them all the silver came off they were only cheap cds with apps on them so no big loss.ive got them on my hard drives.
Are you sure my kids didn't come to your house? I learned to keep my discs in binders the hard way and if I remember correctly at least one of the incidents (yeah I know why didn't I put them up after the first one?) involved a glass of Coke. That at least cleaned up, but my son's attempt to see what was inside one of my Offspring CDs didn't.

I keep all my cdr's that I use frequentely in a big binder and I store my blank ones in a cabinet which is about 500 at a time but use them quickely.
