is vcd easier? is it better quality?what are your views? any problems with the burn process ? any info would help me
VCD compares to good-quality VHS (those you buy from Blockbuster) and SVCD is closer to DVD than VHS in terms of quality. Only reason why some people don't use SVCD instead of VCD is the fact that VCD movies take normally 2 CDs and SVCD movies take 3. SVCD encoding is much slower if you use multipass VBR, but the quality is worth it.
ok ...correct me if i am doing something wrong but is it possible to rip encode and then split a dvd into svcd (just like you can dvd to vcd) by using smart ripper: dvd2avi : and tmpgenc.. i had no problems doing vcd's but i tried svcd (which i am determined to do) on the same programs but following the instructions for svcd ..it went right to the end.. then when i came to edit the final file , it was a green screen only and the sound was choppy,,any advise
Yeah, the guide we have can be used easily for SVCDs as well -- I recommend using 2-pass VBR encoding and average bitrate so that one CD fills exactly 3 CDs to achieve the best quality for SVCDs.
