I just bought my TV a few days ago. I was wondering what the odds are of getting image burn in my screen as a result of playing videogames? I really like to play them and it was one of the reasons I bought a big widescreen TV. Some people say that projection crt's can get image burn very easily. Yet, I know a lot of people who play games non-stop on them and don't have a problem. Assuming that I make sure an image is not fixed in one spot on my screen for too long is it safe to play games on my TV? I've read several articles that say image burn usually only occurs if you were to leave a game on pause or play a game for hours upon hours without turning the screen off or switching images on the screen. I have a friend who's Mom has a 61 INCH projection TV and runs an in-home daycare. She's had the thing for probably 5-6 years and the kids there play games on it non-stop and it's always on pause for hours at a time. I know that is obviously not a good idea but, her TV doesn't have a hint of image burn or screen problems... So I was just wondering if this is something that occurs often or really only if you were to really beat on your TV and not give it a rest. I have a 47" Widescreen Panasonic CRT Projection. The manual says that I can play games, but to limit it to 15% of the overall use of the TV. I still think it'd be safe to play more than that. I was guessing they probably say that in the event you did get image burn so they wouldn't have to pay for fixing it. Thanks
Well, ive got a 55" Mitsubishi Widescreen Tv and have had it for about 5 years. It says in the manual not to play games on it, yet I have and still do. I have never had an image burned into it, or ever had any of my freiends that had images burned into their TVs. Im not telling you to go game crazy on your TV. If you do play games and it burns an image on it, dont blame me, but i dont see any harm in playing them. Just be cautious- turn it off if you pause it to eat dinner or something and dont play for 12 hours straight.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, common sense would say don't play for 10 hours straight. Hell, I don't think I could if I wanted to. I just don't know anyone that's had image burn and I think it get's overexagerated sometimes. Of course it's possible so the TV manufacturers have to warn you. I was just curious about people in here's personal experiences.
