how long does artic silver last?

    i put some artic silver on my video card a couple months ago.
    the video card was cooling great no higher then 54c load 47c idle
    now the video card has temps of 54c idle 68c load

    should i replace already?dosent make any cense to me that it only worked for a couple months

    Artic Silver 5 (you are talking about 5, aren't you) is something like 80% silver, so it should still be in place. Though it does migrate as witnessed by the bb you put in the center of the cpu before installing the heat sink.

    But have you checked to (1) make sure that the fan on the video cooler is working; (2) make sure that a cable hasn't shifted to block airflow to the card or block the exit from the card?

    yes dog artic 5,im sorry.yea the only thing i see is alittle dust collecting on fins on the silencer 5 heatsink i put on card.could this little bit of dust bunnies[lol] cause all this?or perhaps the heatsink didnt seat right?dont know.think i should tear down reapply?

    clean the heatsink & fan of dust before replacing the paste.

    i took you advice ddp cleaned out all the dust bunnies,now its running sweet again.that is so wierd what a little dust can do to your temps.....thanks ddp again
