Based on the videos I've seen of it I think it's going to suck. The thing I don't like is the fact that there seems to be a delayed reaction between your movements and the movements on the screen. I wonder what piece of technology is missing from the kinect that currently makes it impossible to replicate accurate movements in real time?
Will it suck; yes. Will it suck; no. It's all in the eyes of the user. Will it suck to someone who doesn't like stepping outside of their comfort zone and trying something new; chances are probably. But the Kinect is geared to the more casual/family/Wii gamer. So that's a whole different class of users. To them the Kinect will probably be a blast. I tend to think of my self as a borderline-serious gamer and my preference is shooters. Yet I'm also looking forward to seeing what Kinect has to offer. Why? Well, lately I've been using my wife's Wii a lot for cardio and I'm loving it. I think the boxing games work great. So I'll be looking at the Kinect not so much as gaming but as enjoyable interactive entertainment. Plus it'll give me a reason to blow some of the dust off my 360.
I am still waiting on a new game to be good. Been a while. Halo Sucks (campain okay) Dead rising 2 piece of crap Can I get disappointed more this week? LOL
Personally I'll get it. A lot of the videos that you see are still early in production, I'm sure the lag will get better after they've improved the software. I don't have a wii, nor have I played one so it'll be cool to give something like this a try. The sports games definitely look fun and racing will be good if it's not too laggy. If they could get shooters to work well I'd really enjoy those for sure. Having said that though, I'm fully prepared for it to suck and I'll have a craigslist ad up in no time if it does.
It will probably be useless for hardcore gamers. If you haven't used motion controls before or you love motion controls and you like to play casual games on the side, then maybe consider it. Else, forget about it.
ModKing, I think DR2 is alot of fun. Seems alot more improved over the first and time limit stuff seems more lenient overall. I liked the ideas of DR1 but wasn't a big fan of it. But anyway... I like the potential Kinect has with not having to use held devices. Tried the PS3 Move over the weekend with the sports game that came with it, and 4 of us had alot of fun. I don't know if we were more entertained with the glowing squishy orbs at the ends of the controllers though. lol. Honestly, it seemed like a more powerful version of the Wii. Felt like Sony just copied everything over except for the camera part. (That was only used to calibrate your range of motion in the game.) I'm hoping Kinect can take it to the next level and hoping they don't have lag issues with the camera.
It's suckiness is a lot like beauty. It simply depends on the beholder. And let's just say that I won't "be holding" a Kinnect anytime soon.
The interaction between menus, movement, and voice commands is what will get me to buy one of these things.
If it depends on the camera to do everything and they dont have any MAGICAL tech behind it it will be HORRIBLE. lots of company have tried motion control with a camera. but cameras are just to picky with light. for those who have used a Eye toy know how much it sucks if ANYTHING moves when you are playing. Lighting is also gonna be a huge issue, and the fact that it can only track 2 people max just sounds kind of dull. I just bought the PlayStation move and it is VERY accurate, but it is still a gimmick and it has the best of both worlds can track body, but it does a GREAT job in tracking a Bright single color orb no matter how dark it is. unless you have close to perfect lighting, and in a area where nothing moves around you ( dog, fan, kids) it should work fine for you but it is just WAY to much. i paid 50$ for my move set up so i dont feel like it hurt my wallet at all. but 150, ouch. wii mote= fail, cause i dont want to play every game like that. im lazy. ps3 move= minor fail cause it is hard for people to buy add ons for consoles and i just dont see developers support till its popular, and wont get popular till there are great games. xbox kinec= epic fail because voice control im sure is not gonna be accurate unless in a perfect situation, motion control for menu isnt gonna work right with out right lighting, and who wants to ALWAYS have the light on to get ready to watch a movie, as far as gaming unless you want to jump around and pretend you have a stick or a sword in your hand it is not the way most people will want to play a game that is worth playing, and come on only 2 people max what is this NES with only 2 ports? 2 is ok but 4 is required for GREAT time. last words on my long rant- it is gonna be all about games, and accuracy. We all blame the control but deep in side we know it was us, what if it really was the control?
That's a very good point that never crossed my mind to go along with the 99 other reasons that it'll suck turtle balls.
