I am wondering how much DV recorded video will generally fit onto a single 4.4Gb DVD-R. This is assuming the High Quality Video setting in WMV format....30 frames per sec. 740 x 480 rez. etc....???

on a side note is there anyway to strip some of the dvd quality once it is created before burning....kinda like sending it from MyDVD to DVDShrink once the layout is set?

I can't tell you how much you can fit in that format, but I can tell you it won't be DVD-Video compliant and almost no standalone players will be able to read it. For actual DVD-Video (ie MPEG-2) I find that as long as I use AC-3 sound I can get about an hour of footage on a single DVD-R while still maintaining good quality.
