I wanted to ask this question, I use ccleaner all the time (ccleaner.com) and it works great at clearing temporary files etc, but I've always been a little leery to use the registry cleaner. Is it pretty safe to do it or can it result in problems? I'm pretty sure after you hit scan now and it finishes and then hit fix selected issues it gives you the option to backup the registry right? Or I could just export the registry from regedit and use that (import it back in) if there is a problem right? Sorry if these are just stupid questions but I never really did it before thanks for any ideas
i've had no problems with it & on my customers' computers. i was the 1 who linked it to this site more than 18 months ago.
yeah that's how I first started using it several months ago, from a link here in the forum. Does it work like I said though? Will it give me the option to do a backup when I hit fix selected issues or does it automatically just do it?
Yeah its will ask if you want to make a backup, but just save your time and dont use registry cleaners. Me myself I am unexperianced so don't listen to me if you are. I have used ccleaner in the past and I have had to reinstall windows twice because of it. It always seems to make my internet connection a little jumpy and also it did something in my registry which disabled me from installing programs that used more than one cd and would freeze up when i had to insert the second cd, that specifically went away when i put my backup registry back in.
