No Swap Magic, no Flip Top, no Slide Card, just AR2/GS2.

    [bold]CD Backups[/bold]
    • Insert your AR2/GS2 disc and wait for it to load
    • From the main menu, press Start
    • Select “Without Codes”
    • When it asks you to insert the disc, hold the eject button on your PS2
    • Hold it until the power light (at this point it will be green) turns orange
    • The tray will then eject, giving you four seconds to put in your CD backup disc
    • Don’t press eject again, the tray will close automatically after four seconds
    • Press X and your backup will now boot

    [bold]DVD Backups[/bold]
    • Insert your AR2/GS2 disc and wait for it to load
    • Credit for the following goes to Hanedrick:

Select Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX2 as your game
    Press Start
At this point, put in a DVD with a larger file size than your backup, a way to test if it is bigger or not is to put the disc in your computer and look at the file size. If it is larger than the backup you want to play it will work fine, if not you need another disc or it won’t work. Once this disc is inserted, wait about 10 seconds.
Select With Codes and press X
Press X when it says to insert the disc
You will get an error message saying “Too many codes. Turn some off to continue.”

    • At this point, hold eject until the power light turns orange
    • You have four seconds to take out the large DVD and put in your backup
    • The tray will automatically close
    • Press X to accept the error message
    • Press Start
    • Select “Without Codes”
    • Press X and your backup will now boot

Please let me know if you have any problems, I’ll try to help you but I can’t guarantee anything. Good luck.

No modifications were made to my system, are you holding the power or eject button? It's the eject button you hold, but the power light is the one that changes.

I saw this yesterday on the forums.

I was wondering if you can do the "Hold Eject Button" trick with Swap Magic also, so you can ignore using the Slide Card or Flip Top?

Only reason I ask is because I just ordered Swap Magic and a Slide Card. But if GS/AR2 let you do it without fliptop/cogswapping, then I'd say that's the better deal - not to mention you can use cheat codes too!

Please - someone with Swap Magic try this. When you get to the disc swapping part, instead of using the fliptop or slide card, press and hold the Eject Button and quickly swap discs when it opens up. Let us know if it works!

    Hi yugioh2me,

When you say it says it "cannot read" are you referring to the error message "Disc Read Error"? If so it's a problem with the disc, not the method used to boot it. If not, please give me the full error message.

I have no experience with GSv4, so I can't help you there.

    THFS,

Everyone and their mother is tellign me that you must have a No-Solder Mod chip in your PS2 to see the orange light and to be able to do the Hold-Eject Swap.

Are you 100% positive your PS2 isn't modded?

Also - what VERSION os your PS2?

It's a v3 PS2. I guess I must have a No-Solder mod chip, I was never told about it when I got Action Replay. My brother-in-law took it for a few days when I first got AR2, maybe that's what he was doing.

No matter what, I'm very sorry for false advertising here, I know what it's like when you follow a guide perfectly and it fails. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I never knew my PS2 was modded.

    That's ok.

Hopefully there wasn't a rush on Game Shark/Action Replay sales this past weekend :)

    Atleast they are refundable!

Can u boot backups using code breaker for PS1 on a PS2 as i heard the disk does not eject, so you can use the swap trick and boot the backup.
