Last thanks giving I bought 100 DVD discs for $25. It was on sale. However, I tried to burn data (not movies) into them in ISO format. The result? The computer can't even open or exlpore the dvd. I use Nero 6. Am I doing something wrong or are the dvd discs bad...to was way too cheap so they are probably defective.
If you have an image file, somefile.iso, you don't make a data DVD with nero. Start Nero Burning Rom. In the main menu select Recorder=>Burn Image. Then browse to the .iso file. Make sure in the drop down box on the toolbar it shows your hardware burner, not Image Recorder. That's all there is to it.
So can you explain how to make a data dvd disc with nero? I checked the new compilation menu and under dvd there is only ISO and UDF to choose from. I want to try the express mode but was afriad that it's gonna mistaken my dvd disc with a CD disc and mess everything up. I want to reinstall my pc and am trying to backup all necessary files with the fewest number of discs.
In Nero Burning Rom you would select DVD-ROM(ISO) to burn files on discs as data. How much you can compress without losing information depends on the kind of file. Stuff that's already compressed, like video and audio, you can't compress much. Stuff like plain ascii text you can compresss quite a bit.
