closing the thread would be a bad idea then you would not be able to get the help you need, people are just lazy and want something for nothing, this is a great thread with lots of info and alot of good input, same thing will happen the next time around if this was to be closed

i must say thank you to all the people that do take the time to help and repeat themselves, it is nice to know that this is help if you need it, as long as you try to find the answere your self FIRST

You have to buy Swap Magic, a copied version or downloaded version will be no good.

aah. reading this thread, i reminisce on my younger days when i was after doing the same thing. i would just like to take this oppertunity to state the fact that YOU R A N00B. aahhh that felt good. all hatered, anger, and kitty-squishing urges aside, ill tell u flat-out wut to do, how to do it, and who to do it with:

    1) take a ps2 game and pop it into ur dvd burner/reader r wutever have you.

    2) use some sort of program (i like nero) that will read the ps2 game and make a copy of it onto your computer. this copy is called an ISO.

    3) take a blank DVD (+R, preferably) and gently or roughly place it into ur DVD burner/reader r wutever it was that u claimed to possess.

    4) use that same program u used to make the ISO back in step #2, to burn the ISO onto this new blank DVD.

ur ps2 wont recongnize this DVD that u burned. aww damn u screwed urself over now. i mean u read like 10 lines of plain text for what? bwahahaa. ok [bold]im jk[/bold]. this is natural. and for this reason, you need a disc called Swap Magic or something similar. you also will, of couse, need to learn how to swap.

seriously, i dunno y u n00bs bother burning DVD's, just use hd loader

suchaboy if you have rar files then you will need to use winrar, if you have the origonal(prefered) then use dvd decrypter go to mode, hit iso, read, and press burn then take that file go to mode, iso, write, burn at 4x and you are done use -R if possible andthen use your swap magic or mod chip to play the game it is that easy

Bigger TOC(Table of Contents) disk = Bigger ORIGINAL game....must be larger than the backup your trying to boot or it wont work. Load SM, reload the original that has a larger TOC, then load the backup. btw what swap magic are you using, and how big is the game your trying to play? I have yet to run into anything that requires a TOC refresh, i use SM 3.6

Well since that reply didnt really tell me anything....

1)Burn iso at 4x with alcohol, Decrypter, Nero
    2)Load the SM DVD
3)INSERT AN ORIGINAL GAME.....not backup....ORIGINAL with a larger TOC, like Devil may Cry or any DVD-9 game
4)After SM refreshed TOC, insert backup then load

if that doesnt work, i dunno what to say....If using normal boot when refreshing TOC isnt working, use square for special boot, then x when loading backup.

hello, i've been trying to copy final fantasy 10 for a friend with a chipped PS2, i have tried DVD decryptor and IMG burn to copy onto a DVD-R disk, neither have played sucessfully, this has been tried on two different computers, do i need to have any additional software (magic CD/DVD burner) or anything, the game is platinum if that makes a difference, any help will be much appreciated

    Nope X is a 1:1 backup

    Rip with Decrypter (mode-iso-read)
    Burn the image (mode-iso-write)

Not sure what kind of chip your friend has, but do others backups work? Have you made any other successful backups using your burner? Does your burner even support -R??
