This is all posted in my FAQ. I didn't post it for my health.

    1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
    A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.

    2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
    A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/240341
If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.

    3. Q. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 backups or imports?
    A. Yes you need a modchip: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 Swap Magic: http://swapmagic3.com/ Memory Card Exploit (Doesn't work with v.11 PS2 and later): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 HD Loader: http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall#prepare or

How big is the image file? What game are you trying to burn? It might be a dual layer disc. Dual Layer or DVD-9 games need to be burned to a dual layer disc, or shrunk to a DVD-5 or single layer disc. Swap Magic doesn't work with DVD-9 games, you'd need to shrink it to DVD-5. The only way to direct boot DVD-9 games is with a modchip that supports them, like the Matrix Infinity, DMS 4, or Crystal Chip.

Hey Tokijin, i tryied burning need for speed underground with the same ridata disk at 4X and that game works poorly too. I have the same freezing and lagging with this game that i did with god of war. I have no idea what to do. I have good media and a good burner and i know my ps2 plays backup just fine cuz the games my friend burnt me with 1x on the same media works perfectly.

I have no idea what to do.

plz tell me wat media you are using.but the best are taiyo yuden, sony, tdk, ritek, maxell, verbatim.if you are not using one of these that may be your problem.also if it is 8x then burn at 4x.

okay nowadays more and more ps2 games are dvd9.they are way too big in size and too big for swap magic.now if you have a modchip then you can play dvd9 games on it.but if you have swap magic then you need to rebuild the game.try using iso buster or dvd shrink.but if you do have a modchip then you can burn a dvd9 but you need a dual layer burner and dual layer dvd-r.and thats it but i suggest you do the rebuilding part because dual layer dvd-r media are way too expensive.

Burn at 4x on 16x DVD-R's. Swap Magic doesn't work with DVD-9 games. You have to rebuild a DVD-9 or dual layer game to DVD-5 or single layer to work with Swap Magic. Swap Magic works well, but if you've got some money to spend, get a modchip. The Matrix Infinity, DMS 4, and Crystal Chip are all very good modchips. I have a Matrix Infinity and it works great. Swap Magic is cheaper, but once you get used to having a chip, you'll never want to swap discs again.

    7. Q. What do I need to use Swap Magic?
    A. With fat PS2 v.1-11: Flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop/page1.cfm
    Slide Card: http://www.saveware.com/SlideCardUsageAndInstall.htm
    With Slim PS2 v.12-14
    Flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop-v12/pag...
Magickeys (also referred to as slide tool, slim tool or, magic switch): http://magickeys.net/
or tape and tissue mod: From Pretense: If the fliptop doesn't work, just give up on it and do a tape and tissue mod. Open up your case again and tape the back sensor (toward the upper left and beneath the hinge part of the lid) with duct tape or even regular Scotch tape (I use several layers to be on the safe side), put the case back together, and stuff a small ball of tissue into the hole for the front sensor (lower right just above the power button).

    47. Q. Should I get Swap Magic or a modchip to play PS2 backups/imports?
    A. Depends. Swap Magic is inexpensive and works well. It isn't compatible with DVD-9 games. For games above 4.38GB's you may have to rebuild the iso or do a TOC refresh to boot it. This is a small percentage of games, around 5%. In general Swap Magic 3.6 is an excellent product. After rebuilding there isn't a single game which Swap Magic won't boot. A good modchip is the ultimate upgrade. It'll play PSX/PS2/DVD/CD backups/imports automatically. It's compatible with DVD-9 games, makes your PS2 a region free player, supports multi disc games, and you'll never have to rebuild a game or shrink a DVD-9 to DVD-5. The conversation about good modchips begins and ends with the DMS 4 and the Matrix Infinity. They both do everything I mentioned above. For that functionality you would have to spend $100 to $110 for a professional install. It's expensive but you'd be able to play anything the PS2 is capable of reading. If you get a modchip make sure you use one of the reputable installers posted above.

    26. Q. I'm in the market for a modchip or premodded console. What are some reputable sites I can order from?
    A. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/251223 In addition modchip.com and norcalmods.com are supposed to be reliable

The same crap applies. Use good media. Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R. Some PS2 games have dummy files which contain copy protection, but very few. Burn slightly faster or slower on good media. If that doesn't work rebuild it.

    PSTwo Slim Question?

I just bought a new PS2 Slim... seeing that then when you press eject the top opens and you insert a disc in. I just bought the swap magic 3.6, and it not working with my backup disc when i open and take the swap out in put my backup in it. Can i even use the swap magic disc with my new system?

anth0ny24, you will need either the magic keys or magic SWITCH for a slimline. If you want to use BreakerPro, u will need the same. Look here: http://www.console.com/product_ps2_pstwofix.php
You can also use the tape & tissue mod (let me look for the link) but using the magic ***** above will be more permanent. You don't even have to open your system. :)

Ant. if you have swap magic 3.6 and you have installed the modified flip top you do not eject the lid open but you open the inside flap or door and put in your backup disc and push X on your controller.
