Hey, I've downloaded some old TV Shows that I just want to put on DVD, and they're in Video_TS format.... How can I put that onto a DVD? I've been looking around the net, but can't find anything. I have a NERO program, if someone could just walk me through that would be super... Thanks
Burn the VIDEO_TS folder by itself to a DVD. Burn it in Nero as a DATA disc, and it will give you an error. Ignore the error and burn anyway. Will play regularly, provided the release is not nuked. Good Luck, Razor
So... I was trying to burn it as a DVD in NERO, but all the VIDEO_TS files were shuffled in order. Not sure if that would mess up the sequence of the shows or not. Any idea? I'll try the Data way now also. Thanks for the heads up!!
No prob...I learned that trick when I used to convert avi to DVD and ended up with a VIDEO_TS folder. The order shouldn't matter. Just for your knowledge, DVD's now a days have 2 folders burned to them, AUDIO_TS, and VIDEO_TS. The audio folder is supposed to be for an idea of the future to have music DVD's with surround sound music and crap. Features include Bitrates of up to 8MB per sec!!Today's CD's use only 320KB! Anyways, the VIDEO_TS is the only folder you will need for a DVD Video...It doesn't even check for the Audio so don't worry about it. Hope I helped lots....Razor
@Razor89 I tried that, but did not work for me. i have the video ts folder, 2 folders, joined them together, sent it over to nero and copied to disc (data, like you said) i did use a fuji dvd+r, burned at 4x but does not recognize disc in dvd player. my player does do both + and - media.......... are you sure thats what you did to make it work?
Worked great for me! You da man... Thanks alot. Is it the same if its an MPEG also? Same sorta idea? Burn as Data instead of DVD?
Yes...it shoudl work flawlessly so no prob...I help when I can. As for the mpg q, it will not work. If your DVD player supports MPEGs, you can just burn it to the disc(in no folder) and it will play, but 99% of them don't. You have to convert from MPEG to DVD(VOB's and stuff) Nice to know I helped somebody! Razor
@razor yes, all i did was click and drag one folder over another (joining the to) then went to nero burning rom, selected the folder, and burned. my stand alone did not recognize it, nor does it play in the computer....... any clues?
What were in the folders you combined? I don't understand what you would have needed to put together, it should have come in one folder already. If you can, put a list of files in each of the folders. Also, when you put the DVD in your PC and open the drive, is the VIDEO_TS folder all that is on the disc?
@razor it was a d/l movie in 2 parts, hence the 2 folders (encoded using vso divx to dvd) i was just trying different methods. i normally just use NVE 3 to do my decoding (i know its not the best, but works for me) then burn it. i wanted to try different avenues, buti guess what i trid does not work. btw, whatever was burnt on that disk, even the computer does not recognize it, so i cant tell you what folder is exactly in it.
The way you put that last post it sounds like it was a bad burn. If the PC can't recognize a folder on the disc, the disc is screwed. The other person said they had no prob with the technique, and I have never had a problem with it. If it came in 2 folders, that makes me think it was meant for 2 discs or something...I can't really think of a reason for there to be 2 folders. What media are you using and at what speed. Did you get any errors when trying to burn(besides nero saying "this is DVD folder, blah blah blah"??
Also, (forgot to ask), what I meant by see what is in teh folders is look at the folders on your hard drive. I popped in a DVD and the files in the VIDEO_TS folder are: VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB, VIDEO_TS_01_0.VOB, etc....Yours should look like that too. Pop in a DVD movie in your drive and look...Any movie will do. There's a AUDIO_TS folder which is empty, and a VIDEO_TS folder with those files above. This is how I figured the method out in the first place...
If you have Nero, select "DVD-Video". It will automatically create a VIDEO_TS and an AUDIO_TS folder on the left side. Then drag the files in your VIDEO_TS folder into the VIDEO_TS folder on the left. Nero will check the files and directory to see if they are DVD compliant. Nero will also burn as ISO/UDF and DVD-ROM booktype if you use DVD+Rs. The reason why it may not work as 'Data DVD' is because it may burn as UDF file format, and standalones may not be able to read it.
Really? I had no problem when I did it...The reason I did it like that is becuase I had to encode it myself from scratch. Then Nero gave me an error but I thought, hey, what the hell...And it worked. I did it on a DVD-RW anyways just in case, but, it worked anyway. Maybe the player can't take the encoding or soemthing....I had mine work in a Sony 5 Disc(DVD/CD), in each of 3 PS2's(I have 3, it's a long story), and an Emerson VHS/DVD combo with no problem on any of them...I think it was a bad burn though because (s)he said that the PC couldn't recognize the disc data...
@ dogbomb........ i have the full registered version of nero with the latest updates....... the only reason i am trying new methods is because 1) i read nero's encoder isnt so great, and 2) just to utilize as many of nero's functions as possible. @ razor.......... as i mentioned earlier, i use a fuji dvd+r, burnt at 4x (its a ty made disk) also mentioned that i had donnloaded a movie, was 2 seperate d/l (hence 2 folders) all i did previously was transcode it using vso divx to dvd (each seperatly) then nowi have 2 folders, all of which have those files you mentioned i simply joined the folders by dragging one to the other, to compile them, then followed your procedure.. and ended up with a coaster. unless i did something wrong, but it was easy enuff to follow.
Well, if it was 2 seperate downloads, they can't be joined together like that unless you rename them. You will have to burn 2 seperate DVD's, or rename the files. Also, are you sure they are TY made?? Is your burner really old or something because I don't understand why your drive can't even recognize the disc... Razor
@razor that explains it, two seperate folders that cant be joined. burner is in my sig. (new puter, 05 model) and its Media code/Manufacturer ID YUDEN000T02.i will just continue the way i was doing prior to this... it always works for me my way. thank for the help anyway
Hey man, no problem...The 2 folders can be joined though, if you care to learn how. Just ask and I'll explain how to... Razor
aight......... lets give it a shot, i am open to learning things daily, especially from here. i know how to do what i do, and get 100% satisfactory results... but i guess in the interest of others who are interested, just give a step by step guide as to how you do it, if you dont mind !
