how to connect my laptop and my desktop to wireless at the same time?

    i have a Dell laptop(studio 15) running windows vista Basic and a desktop which is pretty old( actually i dont know the model so thts y)
    running windows xp professional.
    i have just installed my wireless system.
    now here's the problem: when i am using the internet on my desktop, i cant connect the internet to my laptop, and when i am using the internet on my laptop, i cant use the internet on my desktop...
    is this a configuration problem or internet problem....
    please help me!

    moved to correct forum as not a windows issue. are they both connected wirelessly or is 1 wired & the other wireless? using a wireless router or a combo modem\router?

    if both wireless than your router is set to only allow 1 connection

    my desktop is wired and my laptop is wireless
    but i want to connect both of them at the same time example
    8:27 a.m(laptop connected to internet), 8:27 a.m(desktop connected to internet)

    As ddp asked, what kind of modem/router are you using?
