I have a Sony 7.1 receiver with a single out for subwoofer from receiver plus a right left out. The sub is a Pardigm ps 1000 which has the input for a right (mono) left input called low level input plus a right/ left called high pass and the normal inputs from receiver for front/left speakers. In listening to the sales people I can get no definite answer as to how to best hook the sub up so its best for playing movies, some say hook the single sub wire from sub out to mono right on sub and other say use the right left or use a y connector from sub out on receiver to input to high level pass, can somebody please advise the hookup I should have from Sony receiver to ps 1000 sub thanks
Use the "Y" connecter; the sell the at all radio shacks or any other store that sells audio equipment. Just explain that it's for your sub and they'll know immediately what you're talking about.
Thanks so from Sony receiver single sub out with the wire I bought also has a y connector so I connect those to wires to the low level input right and left on sub correct.
Correct ... the sub should have two RCA plugs (ignore the one's that look like speaker terminals ... which they are, actually ... those are only used if you going to use two subs, one for your left channel and the other for your right which will convert the speaker signal to another "line out" to the amplified sub. Sammy, what is the model of the sony receiver and what kind of speakers are you using for the two fronts?
sorry forgot to say they were Polk Audio RM 1300 for front and rear, centre is also Polk but it is rm 1600 S
