Hi, I am a complete novice regarding DVD technology. I would like to use some short sections of DVD based movies and merge/edit them to mix with some home video (& then add music). I am planning to use Adobe Premiere to do this. However, in order to get the sections of movie into Premiere I need to convert them to AVi (or similar) format. Can anyone advise on the best way to go about doing this & the software I would need. I think I have first to de-encrypt the DVD & then rip it??? Once ripped I need then to convert is to AVI... All advice welcome
You've got the right general idea. You need to decrypt/rip the movies down to your hard drive (I'd use DVD decrypter or DVDshrink), and then convert/re-encode your resulting DVD VOB files into an AVI format (like divx).
