A while back I wrote a tutorial for my website about how to use DVD43 and Nero Recode to rip any copy-protected DVD to your iPod using entirely freeware (assuming you own it and can legally make a backup in your country and/or municipality). You can find it at http://ipodlegends.com/how-to-convert-a-dvd-to-ipod-for-free/ It's been viewed over 60,000 times by now and I just wanted to share it here. It's completely pointless to pay for the DVD to iPod converters since you can use these two programs to do it for free, and I just want to spread the word. If you have any questions I'll try and answer them as best as I can. EDIT: updated the link to the new guide.
That's an affiliate marketing site against the forum rules... But also, I've posted another free tutorial for converting DVD to iPod, available at http://ipodlegends.com/how-to-convert-a-dvd-to-ipod-for-free/ It uses DVD43 and Nero Recode
dvd43 is terrible....uck... handbrake to rip....the screen is to small to worry about quality so i do a quick rip to MP4, it wouldn't make a difference if i went with VOB btw... http://handbrake.fr/ then i use SUPER to convert http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html then i enjoy -tripplite
Can I rip using DvdShrink which I already have and then convert the dvd to put onto my iphone? Also which program is the best (also Free) to convert dvds for my iphone? I am very new to this and need something easy and straight forward to use. Thanks
You would need another program beyond DVD shrink to do it for your iphone because it can't convert the DVD to an mp4 file itself. The 2 programs you need to download are both free in the tutorial I posted above, so I would just go for that. DVD shrink is better used for shrinking dual-layer DVD rips to single-layer DVD rips so you can back them up on your own single-layer DVD media.
Search in internet, it will become so many suitable softwares, try to use them, find out the best one。
