Hello, helpful ones. I have several non-US AVI files I'm tyring to burn to DVD. I'm in the US, so if I'm not mistaken, it's a matter of converting PAL AVI files to NTSC files (either AVI or DVD). I'm familiar with WInAVI and DVDShrink. I also know how to use IFOEdit to convert PAL DVD to NTSC DVD. My problem is that with WinAVI, it doesn't create (or you can't view) the IFO files when you convert AVI to DVD. So I'm kind of stuck. Can someone tell me the best way to get my non-US region AVI's to DVD? I figure I could just convert to DVD with WinAVI, burn a PAL DVD to hard drive with DVDShrink, then change the IFO's with IFOEdit...but that seems a bit lengthy. Is there a better way? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
If your standalone player is DivX capable, then it should have no problem playing the AVI files. They would simply be burned as data on a CD or DVD. If they must be converted to DVD format, then every converter that I have seen has a setting to choose the format of the output NTSC or PAL. Some have an 'Automatic' setting, which you probably don't want to use - inasmuch as a PAL AVI in gets a PAL DVD out.
As attar noted, simply set whatever conversion software you use to output to NTSC. AVI's (Xvids) aren't PAL, per se, they simply have a 25 fps framerate.
