I have managed to rip a dvd using smartripper and have 5 vob files now on my hard drive
What software can I use to copy these files on to a DVD to make it playable on my dvd player.

tried nero but it said the files were too big - the file grows from 4.5gig to 9.30
if nero works do you just burn the vob files and it will play on the dvd?

Hi Yan999 welcome to AD, there are some great people in here and most are individuals... .lol

I think we've got the usual 'breakdown in communication' syndrome, between; the quick, the fast, the slow, and tho's who just out ter, get there first.

If 9.3 files were too big; seems your system's in FAT 32 .. or just ter keep in rythme was thet 33?

    Hi Gringle

Sorry my files amount 4 around 4.5gig - its only when I try Nero it then tells me the files come to 9.3 odd gig - which is far too big for a dvd

Do you know of any other software that will allow me to burn these 5 files on to a DVD to make it playable - I use ripper software from tron called (I think as using a different notebook at the mo) called dvdripper
The quality of the ripped files are superb
    Cheers
    Yan

are you adding these files in nero vision express??
if so,change the settings to long play instead of standard,
or try loading them onto dvd shrink, see if that accepts them

I would personally recommend dvdsanta, It can burn any kind of avi file on top of a videocamera file on top of that it can burn jpeg and then on top of that it can burn the .vob files It is easier to use than nero

    hi guys

    thanks for all this info

looks like Nero will do the trick by adjusting the settings

One last question - if I can burn the 5 vob files onto dvd - is that all I need to burn to then stick the dvd into a dvd player and it will play all 5 vob files

    cheers guys

    Yan

used roxio dvd copier which takes my 5 files and looks good - only problem is that in dvd format the vob files grow from approx 4 gig to 9.23 gig and roxio tells me the files are too big!
there seems no way of telling roxio its never 9.23 gig

    Hi there

your not the only one lost I can tell you......

I have 5 vob files 4 @ 1.04 gig and one real small one.

I ripped these from a dvd using smart ripper.

I have been trying a couple of bits of software with no joy, but Roxio dvd creator looks good. Only thing is when I try and burn the 5 files, Roxio seems to think the files total over 9 gig.

Maybe on the wrong tracks but all I want to do is have software I can copy a dvd!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Many thanks

    hi

you say 5 vobs of 1.04gig? well they should be 0.99gig!

rip again useing dvd decrypter in iso read mode!

ok you say 5 vobs? have you got the ifo and bup files to go with them?

if not use ifoedit and use tab button CREATE IFO and make the bup ifo for your vobs...

(NOTE = keep same destation folder as vobs!)

roxio confilcts with nero BE WARNED!!! and visa versa!

Well yang999 most of what I've read, 'about in here' Roxio, and Nero have conflict problems.

On the other hand you claim a 9.3gig prog/is too big, for one or the other to understand?

Sorry yang I got the.. the extended version of Thu Return of the King on one 4.3 disc, maybe those more discerning will find a fault?

And I got the Seven Samurai [including the intermission]( Whun Laura the love of my life, and wife; Pushed the kids outside the bar area.)
Ignored the 4.329 gigs, and said "whurs yer daddies beer?"

    gringle :)
