Hi, I feel stupid for asking this, however I can't manage to get rid of the files created by avi2dvd after the encoding finished, I have already burned the DVD and now I don't want those files taking up disk space, but Win Vista permissions won't let me do this even though I am the computer administrator, any help would be appreciated thank you
Do you get an error when trying to delete it? Maybe it won't let you delete it because it is in use. It happens to me on XP sometimes with AVI files when it shows thumbnails. Try to go in Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab and check "Always show icons, never thumbnails". See if it will then let you delete it. if not, try: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ Other thing that most times works for me is to access the file using something else than Windows Explorer. I open a burning application for example and navigate to the location of the file and delete it. If nothing of the above works, you could make a batch file that would run at system startup and delete what you want.
Thank u very much cyprusrom, however I was already able to delete it by going into Control Panel, selecting user accounts and then switching off the User Account Control chechmark, which basically enables you to mess around with files on the system w/out interference from Windows Vista, whoever has Win Vista probably knows what I'm talking about. But I'm still concerned as to what was keeping me from deleting it, I don't think AVI2DVD upon creating the files protects them from being removed, anyhow ty.
No, I don't think it was AVI2DVD, is just Windows/Explorer. And it doesn't happen just in Vista, XP too.
