Who told you it's wrong? That's the config for the 16 meg nand.

    Teh interwebs.

Dump in progress now, error free so far. Changed from SPP another port version. See if this helps. . .

All seems to be going well - final write of XBR going on now. . .

One question I had - why did we bother getting the CPU key; writing down those numbers from the blue screen xell. They didn't seem to get used.

Are they for other software besides XBR?

Okay, I think I have done most of this right up to this point but I'm stuck once again. I managed to get xell to boot (!) and I got my CPU Key. I then proceeded to unlock my KV with the CPU Key and got my DVD Key. Then I inserted my DVD Key into an ixtreme 1.61 benq firmware through jungleflasher.

Then I find out through FlashDos my drive is a multi bank drive. (It read 8 banks, 0-7, and came up with a datasum of 0000) So I then proceeded to make a 512 KB firmware file with Firmware toolbox by using the same 256KB ixtreme bin file for Bank 0 and Bank 1.

So all is going well, I go to erase my drive in Dos Flash and....

    Erasing....erasing failed!

So close...yet so far away... Anyone know what's causing this/how to fix it? MY drive tray is half way open, if that makes a difference or not.

So I asked the guy working at radio shack to show me where to find the items needed for the hack. It appears he may have guided me wrong, as I have noticed I have what is called a "rectifier diode". I'm unsure if these are the same thing, the label seems so match, except I can't tell if it says IN4004 or 1N4004. Do I need something different?

You're better off using the 1n914 diodes which work way better for this hack. you can order them here or here at radio shack . I used these and they worked just fine with my JTAG.

It could work you're gonna have to re-do the pins to the points on he board. Not to mention adding the resistors. You better off getting a network cable and buying the db-25 end and hood, don't take short cuts.

It's not so much I want to take a short-cut, as it is I do not have access to a PC with a Printer port, so I'm hoping to find a way around having to get an entirely new PC from Craigslist just for that purpose. If you have any other suggestions that might work it'd be greatly appreciated.

if you're brave enough you can try that link which shows you how to flash via usb using nandpro.

Any lpt cable is fine as long as it has a male end. Chop off the opposite end seperate the wires add the resistors to the required wires. Then solder them coinciding points on the MB.

either one should work fine as long as the drivers for nandpro are installed properly. if you get an error when you try to flash you might have to go into your bios and configure settings for the card since it isnt built on your pc.

I have a modding box full of 1/4 watt resisters....
Are teh 1/2 watt resisters a must, or would the 100ohm 1/4watt ones work as well?

No. The 1/2 watt are a waste. Use your 1/4.

Is there a more detailed simple to follow tutorial for putting together the printer cable? The OP doesn't explain it at all really.
