I have a Creative Video Blaster TV tuner card which exports to MPG 2 format. Global Divx will play the MPG's, but Win DVD crashes, and
TMPENG says 'illegal video stream'. I've
made .mpg's out of a commmercial DVD, but I'm mainly interested in editing my video camera output, like a video of lightning in which I only
want the 1-second flashes. I can sort of grab
stills with Hypersnap, but I'd like to
grab short 2-second sequences. Is there
a shareware or freeware editor that will
do this at a reasonable price?

I'm talking to myself... I finally got
some screen grabs by using the elecard mpg2
player, it has a frame advance button, and
turning off 'hardware acceleration' in my
video settings, which gets rid of the 'there's a hole in my video screen' overlay thing. Elecard locks up almost every time, so I'm going to try the Ulead Media Demo, $99 is a lot just to grab some video.
