How to find out what drive you have and what firmware i have?

i looked at the tutorials on the top but they dont tell me how to see what i have..and sites or pictures that will sohw me wht firmware i have or drive type so i can start to backup games..

 

have you owned your 360 from new???if so how long?

 

i bought it like 2 weeks ago is that bad?..is it to new?

 

there is no bad drive so you bought it new so it as stock firmware thats good you can flash it , with some modded firmware . look at the image eject your tray on the 360 what drive do you have

 

i got the hitachi-LG...and on the tutorial at the top for this drive do i really need all that just to make a backup?...and is it true if i go on xboxlive with backup ill get banned?

 

All you need is a Serial ATA card with a SIL3112 chipset. If your onboard SATA is SIL3112 or VIA then you're set. Download the slax2 .iso file and burn it to a CD. Boot your PC with the SLAX cd in it and the hitachi hooked up to the 360 via SATA. Reboot pc, take out slax, let windows load and flash the 360 drive.

SATA CARD - SIL3112 chipset
Blank CD for Slax.iso

 

im new to the xboxs360 so this might be a veryyyyyyy newbish questin but is softmodding the xboxs the fimware flash the same thing?

 

What if you have the Samsung drive?

 

samsung..from my experience is much easier then the hitachi..but ur best bet is to got to 360mods..they have alot of tuts on sammies and hitachis..mostly video which helps by far
