I see there has been more rising conern on how to flash the samsung correctly with the mtkflash. Many people, as I did, have run into no drive detected, or the PORT MASTER SLAVE (whatever) and nothing happens.

Here is your resolution: Try to flash after each suggestion. Do not do 2, unless you have done 1, and do not do 3 unless you have done 2... and so on. Each step builds on eachother, without doing the previous, you might as well pay me 60 bucks to do it lol

    1) Make sure RAID is disabled in your bios. There should be an option somewhere.

    2) Keep your xbox connected to your computer, but do not turn it on until you are at the command prompt.

    3) Try to run the command mtkflash.exe r /sata /m orig.bin instead (do not use if your sata is onboard... meaning not a pci card) If this is sucessful you'll have to use the command mtkflash.exe w /sata /m xtreme30.bin to flash.

    4) If you have anything else in your computer that is SATA, disconnect it (harddrive), except your xbox 360. (keep your sata devices unplugged for the rest of this, once we get mtkflash working, then plug it in and see if it works.

    5) Your mtkflash.exe needs editing. If you disconnected your harddrive, plug it back in and go to start>run>"msinfo32.exe" if it brings up microsoft help and support, you're going to have to rename a file to an extension of .nfo and try running it. Now go to components>storage>scsi. and you should see something like this...

    Name Serial ATA Controller
    Manufacturer
    Status OK
    PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_[bold]2211[/bold]&DEV_[bold]4433[/bold]&SUBSYS_31491106&REV_80\3&61AAA01&0&78
    I/O Port 0x0000[bold]6655[/bold]-0x00006662
    I/O Port 0x00000000-0x00000003
    I/O Port 0x0000[bold]8877[/bold]-0x00008884
    I/O Port 0x00000000-0x00000003
    I/O Port 0x00000000-0x0000000F
    I/O Port 0x00000000-0x000000FF
    IRQ Channel IRQ 20
    Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\driver.sys (5.1.2600.201, 74.63 KB (76,416 bytes), 5/15/2006 7:00 AM)

Now the bits you are going to have to replace in your mtkflash.exe with hexedit are going to be this "11 22 33 44 55 66 77 88" You're msifo32 will look different, but the numbers in those positions are to be entered into mtkflash in that order.

    EXAMPLE

    Name Serial ATA Controller
    Manufacturer
    Status OK PNP
    Device ID
    PCI\VEN_[bold]1106[/bold]&DEV_[bold]3249[/bold]&SUBSYS_31491106&REV_80\3&61AAA01&0&78
    I/O Port 0x0000[bold]FD00[/bold]-0x0000FD07
    I/O Port 0x00000000-0x00000003
    I/O Port 0x0000[bold]F100[/bold]-0x0000F107
    I/O Port 0x00000000-0x00000003
    I/O Port 0x00000000-0x0000000F
    I/O Port 0x00000000-0x000000FF
    IRQ Channel IRQ
    20 Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\driver.sys (5.1.2600.201, 74.63 KB (76,416 bytes), 5/15/2006 7:00 AM)

My string would be 06 11 49 32 00 FD 00 F1 and thats would would have to go into my mtkflash.exe.

Now how to insert it. open up mtkflash.exe with your hexeditor, and hit ctrl+g and goto line "b3d6" and replace what ever is there and whatever follows with 06 11 49 32 00 FD 00 F1. So you will have replaced 8 pairs with your own numbers, all of which start on b3d6 and end at b3dd.
Save and close, put that mtk on your disk, and go flash.

    Hope this helps
    Now you can flash.

    hi,

My englisch isn't verry well so i hope you understand.
I have just one question. When i'm in promt and i have typed mtkflash r/m backup.bin than i have 2 choices:

    1: IDE Pri master
    2: IDE Pri Slave

    and if i choose 1 than i get the message: Port if0, master/slave: a0

By the way i can't find the word "raid" in my bios, i have phoenix bios.

then ask the mod. If your sata cards show up in ide, then you're not going to be able to get your xbox 360 working with mtkflash. Go purchase a via vt6421L card, they're cheap (10 dollars).

Yeah i did flash before but i kept getting the no drive detected message it was by fluke it read my onboard sata. VT8237 chip. I edited mtkflash as per your tutorial and still get no drive detected. Also i've read a few forums and they seem to suggest that i should get a message asking me to select what channel to use but i do not get that message i usually when it flashed pressed 1 quickly after hitting enter. But that doesn't seem to work. Also i have sata bootrom enabled in the bios could this be the problem?? TIA Ronnie

keep sata enabled, make sure raid is disabled.

if your chip is onboard, type mtkflash r /m orig.bin , try turning your xbox on at boot, or on at command prompt

specific hardware configurations require a different combination of my tips, it takes a lot of tweaking to get it to work.

    ie.

i have to turn my xbox on at command prompt, and it only works with mtkflash.exe r /sata /m orig.bin. but thats just me.

    Hi ronnie,

Sorry to bother you with this, i know by now you must be going nuts with these questions.

I did what your guide said and it worked perfectly for an onboard sata from one of the PCs at my work, but when i do the same thing for my home pc it just doesnt work. There is no sata or "legacy" setting, as some people call it, i took all IDEs out of the board and still no drive detected. i tried turning on the xbox before turning on pc and then after prompt (that's how it works at work) and it doesn't work.

So sorry, but i must ask for your help. This is what i got (It says RAID but it's the NON-RAID card, just in case):
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Name VIA VT6421 RAID Controller
    Manufacturer VIA Technologies, Inc.
    Status OK
    PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3249&SUBSYS_32491106&REV_50\3&61AAA01&0&50
    I/O Port 0x0000E200-0x0000E20F

    I/O Port 0x0000FE00-0x0000FEFF
    IRQ Channel IRQ 17
    Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\viamraid.sys (5.1.2600.530, 98.63 KB (100,992 bytes), 5/17/2005 12:09 AM)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    I modified the mtkflash with [bold]06 11 49 32 00 e2 00 e4[/bold] but it doesn't work. I'm wondering if i did something wrong.

    Please help ! thanks !

    Fabrikant Promise Technology
    Status OK

    Geheugenadres 0xFDEFF000-0xFDEFFFFF
    Geheugenadres 0xFDEC0000-0xFDEDFFFF
    IRQ-kanaal IRQ 16
    Stuurprogramma c:\windows\system32\drivers\ulsata2.sys ( 1.00.0.31, 122,50 kB (125.440 bytes), 15-2-2005 14:19)

    I've edit in mtkflash : A510 733D 00EF 00EA
but when i want to flash my samsung he still says No Device.
I've tried everything but nothing worked.
