How can I flash the bios to a laptop that wont boot it up? I have a T20 thinkpad that only boots up to "F1 for bios setup utility, F12 to choose boot source" then it locks up(I think). If you press F1 it just keeps saying "entering bios setup utility". If you press F12 it again just keeps displaying "enter boot select menu". If you let it sit, it just keeps displaying the F1 and F12 options. That makes me think its the bios so I want to try to flash it before I just put it up for parts. P.S. I have a couple other comps that I can hook up to it with a crossover/usb/etc.
Have you made any recent changes to the hardware configuration, are you getting any bios errors or beeps or anything?
That does seem rather odd since the 1 long 2 short for an IBM Beep code means bad display adapter. I would suggest clearing CMOS and trying again, also most of the BIOS flash utilities I've seen have to have either a floppy, or work from within windows..
did your lappy come with restore discs? When I got my W3J I got that message choose boot source. Wouldn't respond to anything. I used my restore discs and was able to finally get into the bios to actually set a boot sequence.
Actually, I fixed it. Well, I found the problem. The network card was messed up and would not allow the laptop to bootup. Now that I took it out, it works fine.
