    [bold]How To FTP[/bold]

    Here is the connection. Download and install FlashFXP on pc.

    If you use router or hub:
    PC connects to port1 of the router/hub with ethernet cable
    Xbox connects to port2 of the router/hub with ethernet cable

    If you use the crossover cable:
    Connect PC to Xbox by using a crossover cable

    ON dashboard of XBOX. Goto settings => mode "static". If you want to use DHCP, let me know.
    IP 192.168.1.10
    subnet 255.255.255.0
    gateway 192.168.1.11
    DNS is blank

    Save.

    ON PC. Goto START => SETTINGs => NETWORK CONNECTION. You will see LOCAL AREA CONNECTION, right click on it and select properties. The window pops up, then look for TCP/IP. select it and click on properties. Enter following
    IP 192.168.1.11
    subnet 255.255.255.0
    gateway is blank
    DNS is blank

    Save.

    Reboot xbox. OPen the FlashFXP on PC then select quick connection. Then type in.
    connect to 192.168.1.10
    port 21
    pass xbox
    user xbox

    Then click connect.

    Enjoy

    [bold]How do I config options on Evox dash[/bold]?
    Ftp the evox.ini to PC. Then open it with notepad. You will see a lot of codes in there.

    [bold]Why do I want to edit evox.ini and skin.ini[/bold]?
    Once you turn on your xbox and evox dash does not shows all options as normal. The evox.ini was corrupted.

    Second, you want to organize the options on Evox dash as your way.

    Third, you want to organize and to display time, clock, ip, temp, freespaces, etc... on Evox dash as your way.

    [bold]What will happen if I mess up[/bold]?
    Your evox dash still boot even though you accidently deleted evox.ini. But you only see few options. If you mess up the skin.ini, that skin will not work. So evox loads the original skin.

    [bold]Which part of evox.ini should I play around[/bold]?
    The [Menu] part on evox.ini for beginners. The whole evox.ini for advanced users only.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Here is my [Menu] on evox.ini

    [Menu]

    Section "Root"
    {
    Section "Games"
    {
    AutoAddItem "e:\games\"
    AutoAddItem "f:\games\"
    SortAll
    }
    Section "Emulators"
    {
    AutoAddItem "e:\emus\"
    AutoAddItem "f:\emus\"
    SortAll
    }
    Section "Applications"
    {
    AutoAddItem "e:\apps\"
    AutoAddItem "f:\apps\"
    SortAll
    }
    Item "Launch DVD",ID_Launch_DVD
    Item "Trainers",ID_trainer
    Item "MS Dashboard",ID_MS_Dash
    Section "System Utils"
    {
    Item "Settings",ID_Settings
    Item "Flash BIOS",ID_Flash_Bios
    Item "Backup",ID_Backup
    Item "Skins",ID_Skins
    }
    Item "Reboot",ID_Quick_Reboot
    Item "Power Off",ID_Power_Off
    }

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    There are a lot of stuffs to edit in skin.ini. I will post later.
    For more questions, let me know.

    If you have windows 98, it may not work.

    Connect xbox to PC by using crossover cable. Set everything as above and save. Reboot xbox. Then go back to settings. Scan for FTP and Network options. Just change to YES if it is NO. Check to see if IP address changes. It should be:

    IP 192.168.1.10
    subnet 255.255.255.0
    gateway 192.168.1.11

    If they are changed, then NOT GOOD. Also check IP on PC too.

    Reboot xbox. then fire up flash fxp and connect.

    ok
    Bring your xbox to your friend's house and try to ftp. If it does not work and your friend's xbox works, then you know you xbox does not work with ftp. So check options in settings of Evox.

    If it works, then your xbox is ok. The PC has problems.

    But first let find out if your xbox can ftp with your friend's computer.

    So you have to know little bit of computer too.

    I just kinda skimmed over this tut and it seems fine but if I don't find the IP automatically or whatever, and set it to the IP you provided, won't that mess up the connection with my modem? I'm using a router now (Modem > Router > PC) and haven't been able to get the xbox to connect to it, I'm almost positive it has something to do with DHCP, so later today I'm just going to connect with a crossover cable. Will I just have to change the Local Area Network settings each time I disconnect my Xbox or can I just make a whole new connection with different settings? Hope this makes since.

    ok you are using DHCP, then conect like this:

    Keep the way PC connecting.
    Connect ethernet cable to xbox and port 1-4 on router.
    turn on xbox. then look ip of xbox.
    turn on flashfxp and connect to that ip.

    Also list all ip on PC and xbox here too.

    OK I'm trying now to connect with a crossover cable.

    Use the following IP address:

    IP address: 192.168.0.2
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway: 192.168.0.100

    I can sucessfully ping to 192.168.0.2 but when I try FlashFXP:

    [R] Connecting to 192.168.0.2-> IP=192.168.0.2 PORT=21
    (and immediately) [R] Connection failed (Connection refused)

    I hope this was detailed enough... any help please?

    This is your xbox IP address:

    IP address: 192.168.0.2
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway: 192.168.0.100

    What is your PC IP?

    It should be like this:

    IP address: 192.168.0.100
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway: 0.0.0.0

    Then connect again

    Ok, this is gettting sooo very frustrating but here are ALL the specs that I have... they seem correct to me but maybe not.

    XBOX NETWORK SETTINGS:

    Enable : Yes
    Type : Static
    IP Address : 192.168.0.2
    Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
    Gateway : 192.168.0.100

    Using the following IP address:

    IP address : 192.168.0.3
    Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway : 192.168.0.100

    Here's what I get from 'run > cmd > ipconfig /all' :

    Physical Address : 00-07-E9-BC-20-F1
    Dhcp Enabled : Yes [not sure how to change that, if it matters]
    Autoconfiguration Enabled : Yes
    IP Address : 192.168.2.104
    Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway : 192.168.2.1
    DHCP Server : 192.168.2.1
    DNS Servers : 68.87.68.162
    68.87.74.162

    Umm ok so I think the problem might have something to do with my router. Here is how I use the internet : cable modem -> linksys router -> computer.

    Basically, I'm pretty sure that the router uses DHCP, hell I don't even know what DHCP is but it seems to be causing some trouble (refer to my "ipconfig /all")

    When my router and everything is hooked up, I can go to internet explorer and type in 192.168.2.1 and it takes me to some linksys page with the password admin, no user name. I remember seeing something to do with DHCP but I don't know what to make of it.

    So I guess I have two options : connect Xbox directly to PC with crossover cable (which I'd rather do; it seems cleaner, and less likely to mess up) or just connect the Xbox to another port on the router. Either way, I just have to change the network settings on the PC each time I use the internet (it just obtains the IP automatically and says it's assigned by DHCP).

    If you need anymore information, I'll try to give what I am familiar with, I'm ready to FTP :p. Thanks.
