I recently reinstalled XP Pro and after some Windows updates, a message saying XP is counterfeit copy keeps popping up. How do I get rid of that
Looks like you paid for a bootleg copy. You should take it back and get a refund. BTW, we cant help you with pirated material here in the public forums. Hey there -djscoop-
hey geestar buddy! man, its been a few years huh? hope all is well... yeah the only time i've seen people with the counterfeit malicious copy message is with copied or hacked versions. but if you did in fact purchase a real copy and have a good serial number, then by all means call microsoft, they're the ones you should talk to for a problem like this.
migTMC, use this link http://www.afterdawn.com/software/desktop_software/other_tools/removewga.cfm to remove the notification. this program was made by ms due to some legit versions of xp saying it was counterfeit when it was not. when doing updates, select custom not express & uncheck the windows genuine advantage box.
no problem. also change updates from automatic to notify me but don't automatically download or install them.
