Hello i baught a Magic III mod chip a while ago and i remember i took my chip apart and found out i need to solder it but i didn't know how. Anyone got an idea on how i may do this and if it easy or hard? that would great thanks
Goto http://www.china-magic.com and follow the links to the isntallation diagram. The points on the PS2 motherboard you need to solder to are extremely small and installation can be quite difficult. Recommend professional install unless you honestly feel you are one yourself.
What's the SCPH model # and how many screws does the outer casing have? They are located underneath plastic/rubber square covers.
Check again, you should count either 8 or 10. If you have 8, it's a v4 or possibly a v5. If you have 10, it a v1-3.
hey guy, soldering is a piece of cake. the best thing is go to radio shack and purchase 25 watt soldering iron. the trick is put so solder on the small wire and since the soldering iron is really hot, all you have to do is barely touch the wire to the circuit and the solder on the wire melts and bond with the IC. You should also use a copper wire to clean up access. you can get this at radio shack. I just finished another DMS3 installation, it took me 25 minutes. good luck
For the DMS3 PLUS? or Magic? I haven't done one for magic. I only do DMS3 PLUs premod PS2. I can send you pictures of my recent DMS3 mod. I always take pictures of the complete mod for each PS2 I mod.
hi, sorry, been busy lately. I will post the pics on my website shortly. my server is down at the moment. So do you want to install the DMS3 Plus? The DMS4 is coming out soon. Both Lite and Professional. I am waiting for DMS4 to come out. Most of my customers want the new DMS4 with more memory onboard. this is a great deal if you want to use a modchip. I love the DMS3. I have 2 PS2 version 7 and have installed both with DMS3 chips. They work like a charm. fast too. and the best thing is that you can download the flash upgrade straight from DMS3 website. www.dms3.com So, have you installed your modchip yet? The DMS3 will work great with your PS2 version. I think you have version 4 (SPCH number 30001), this installation is not bad at all for version 4. I would recommend buying a broken motherboard on ebay and practice. I went through one motherboard before I was able to solder the PS2 modchip. But after the first successful installation, other new installations are very easy. keep me posted on how you are doing with your modchip installation. regards
Best place to buy DMS3 or DMS4 is go to www.dms3.com and check out their distributors. Very reasonable prices from these authorized distributors. I would recommend to buy them only from these distributors on DMS3 website. chow baby!
